Can anyone tell me what would have been the average dowry in Panjim, in the
1950s. By this time, the currency was Escudos. And perhaps a small description
on the negotiations involved. Would they take place at the girl's house, the
boy's house? Was there a skilled negotiator perhaps.

How did the elite families of Panjim decide the worth of the girl? The good
name
of the family? Their financial worth, etc.
Any information about special terms/words used, Portuguese laws regarding
girl's
inheritance, special traits looked for in a girl/boy, would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for all the wonderful information you send me. I am grateful
for each and every post of yours.

Take care,
selma
