After making a living off tourism, Goa and Goichis (both Govt. and pvt) have never gotten a handle on how to market themselves no? Going by Joe Margao-Panji's video, the old item that caught ones eye was the Keengfisher taamdi-belle showing a little leg (you know, what can I say...I like legs)!
Look at marketing efforts and Govt participation from Rajastan, Madhya Pradesh....even J&K. Imagine J&K is yuck save for the mountains...nothing much but the creepy K*shmiris trying to clean your wallet (J^mmu is very different)......Gulmarg....woah.....come to the Cansaulim lake- way prettier now that its flooded. WTF does someone is the department get it into their heads that no one comes to see the clay thingies from Bicholim? Thats not exactly a Rodin sculpture is it? Goa is greenery, the beeches and left over Portuguese culture. Very soon, we'll add corruption and piling garbage. Look at the touristy part of Pondycherry....Charudutta will tell you....spanking clean....Fontanais, pardon me looks like a p*g s****** (lest it upset some of you who have not been outside Panji) in comparison. The only (in my memory) juicy piece of advertising was done on Goa was created by Redifusion in the late 70s....."this picture of the Bahamas was taken in Goa" (the picture was taken in Palolem). Anyways, less said the better. Ah...and the tv on the table with a bed-sheet for a table cloth was super homely....missing were plastic flowers wrapped in a plastic bag to keep the dust off!! To the respondent who inevitably will ask, so what has my contribution been?
