According to Collem Police Inspector Monoj Mardolkar, the mishap took place as the truck (KA-25-B-9967) was proceeding from Mollem to Belgaum. As the truck reached Dudhsagar, the driver lost control of the vehicle at a sharp curve, which is an accident-prone zone, and the truck fell into a valley.
