As the autopsy and forensic reports begin unfolding in public domain, below is the link to an opinion sent to Herald on 14th january 2011 which has not yet been published for reasons best known to the editor. http://sotersgoa.blogspot.com/2011/01/custodial-death-and-alcohol-abuse-in.html This only reflects a very systematic ploy by Goa's media houses to 'manufacture selective opinion' amongst the Goan people by preventing them from access to various points of view before they can make an informed decision. It is also most unfortunate that activism has been reduced to fabrication and sensationalisation with collaboration of media houses selling their merchandise to the innocent goans and thereby allowing the actual malaise to fester. We opine that alcohol abuse was the underlying cause of the custodial death of Cipriano while the police have unnecessarily messed up their hands by not observing laid down procedures.
