Geraldine Fernandes....

Geraldine Fernandes grew up in the village of Tivim where she was actively 
involved in a Youth Association which led to her interest in village 
development issues. Married to Mr. Agnelo Fernandes of Benaulim, the couple 
have two children. However even after she moved to Benaulim, Geraldine 
continued her work in protecting the identity and environment of her land. She 
is the Convenor of ‘Ganv Ghor Rakhon Manch’ a people’s movement, which actively 
takes up development issues which threaten our Goan villages. She has worked in 
spearheading and sustaining a well-coordinated campaign against mega-projects 
which destroy the village
character and its fragile infrastructure. 

She also advocates and campaigns in varied forums, including the Gram Sabha 
Meetings, for the Rights of the villagers. She is a Member of the Citizens 
Initiative for Communal Harmony (CICH) and Interfaith Dialogue for Life 
(IFDIL). Apart from this, she is a Member of the Parish Social Apostolate Forum 
and the Parish Pastoral Council. Amongst her many public campaigns, she 
represented Goa to give her deposition on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) 
to the World Bank in Delhi.
