DR. SIDHU INAUGURATES “CARNIVAL OF COLOURS”
Panaji, February 24, 2011 The Governor of Goa, Dr. S. S. Sidhu inaugurated “Carnival of Colours- 2011, a painting exhibition at the Ruchika Art Gallery at Miramar on the occasion of its fourth anniversary yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sidhu said that Painting helps people to express their feelings, emotions, and ideas on a canvas artistically. He said that the artist needs to be complimented for their creativities and quality of work. Eminent cartoonist Shri Mario Miranda was also present. The Curator of Gallery, Smt. Niyatee Shinde took the Governor around the Gallery and explained the works to him. Ruchika Art Gallery Conducts these type of exhibitions for the past three years on its anniversary. 29 artists participated in the painting exhibition and displayed their works this year which include Santosh Morajkar, Charudatt Prabhudessai, Francisco D’Souza, Hanuman Kambli, Harshada Kerkar, Himesh Pankar,Julia D’Souza, Lizel D’Costa, Mario Miranda, N. Kanaya, Nirupa Naik, Norman Tagore, Priyadarshan Salgaoncar, Querizito D’Souza, Rajan Fulari, Rajashri Thakkar, Sachin Naik, Sadguru Chendvankar, Savio Peres, Viraj Naik, Shilpa Naik, Thiodore Mesqueta, Vaman Navelkar, Vasudev Shetye, Yolanda D’Souza, Suhas Shilkar, Vishan and Chaitali. The Dr. Sidhu earlier lighted the traditional lamp to mark the inauguration of the exhibition will be open up to March 25, 2011 for art lovers. The Governor also released a Catalogue on the exhibition on the occasion. Earlier on his arrival at the Art Gallery the Governor was received by Smt. Vidhya Vernekar.
