Aleixo bhava, Thank you for taking the time to show your appreciation of my article. It was specifically written so that folks like you who lived there however briefly, or had some knowledge of the place, get a short tour down memory lane.
We are nothing but a collection of our memories. Of our childhood, of our loved ones, of Goa and of the things that made us happy. Luckily, the mai-des for you is a reality, not a haunting past and for that I envy you. We all share the same bond whichever part of Goa we came from, whichever class or caste our ancestral families originated from, or whichever faith we once professed or still profess, and whichever part of the world we now find ourselves. That bond will endure by Goans always being Goans, even if Goa one day, God forbid, will not be the Goa we loved and cherished. With kinship, Roland. Mogall Bab Roland, Goenkara ! Saud & paz... ... First Class boroup tujem !! As a kid, I too lived (but for a very short time) in Dhobitalao, at St.Peter's Club of Orda, situated at Chandanwady. I did not know the history behind the name and why it was called "Dhobitalao", but now I do, after reading your writeup. Some of the landmarks are still in my mind, the ones you remembered and wrote about, so carefully. It has been very refreshing the times of the past and the places you had been to, specially when someone writes with all the minute details. Mojim porbim tucam. Alex P. Silveira, Calangute
