-- Samir Umarye Times of India PANAJI: A 50-year-old woman, who was arrested for murdering her paramour of 23 years as she suspected him of getting friendly with a younger woman, died in police custody on Monday. However, foul play has been ruled out as the post-mortem revealed that she had died due to "natural cause".
Rajani alias Kalyani alias Babita was arrested by the Bicholim police<http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/search?q=Bicholim%20police>on March 4 for the murder of her 54-year-old paramour Babi Mote from Dhangarwaddo, Bicholim. Mote, who was working as a caretaker of a house in Bicholim was murdered with a koita in the house. On March 6 evening, the accused was taken to primary health centre at Bicholim for a routine check-up and was referred to the Goa Medical College<http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/search?q=Goa%20Medical%20College>(GMC) and hospital as she was having breathing problems. However, on March 7 at 12.30 am she died in the GMC. The panel of doctors who conducted the post-mortem said that she died due to "natural causes" as her lungs had collapsed. Rajani, who was a married woman, was in a live-in relation with Mote, who had deserted his wife 23 years back. "They were staying together in a room at the house which Mote was caretaker of. However, in the last few months they had frequent fights and arguments and once in a fit of rage Mote assaulted Rajani with a stick. This was around two or three months before the murder and she left Mote's house in anger," said police sources. Mote was getting friendly with a younger woman and Rajani did not like this. "When Rajani questioned him, he accused her of having an affair with another man," said sources. Police suspected Rajani's hand in Mote's death as she was last seen with him the night before his body was found.(ToI)
