> RESPONSE: I too was of the opinion that the issue of the genesis of the
Shroud of Turin was settled a long time ago. In light of the recent
discussion I turned to google and here are a couple of links I found
quickly:

> ** The Shroud of Turin **
> Modern science has completed hundreds of thousands of hours of detailed
study and intense research on the Shroud. It is, in fact, the single
most studied artifact in human history, and we know more about it today
than we ever have before. And yet, the controversy still rages.

**It is wrong to say that the "Shroud of Turin is material manufactured some time between 1260 and 1390 AD.". The Carbon-14 test of 1988 is not valid, as the scientists of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), like Raymond N.Rogers, have proved. The piece tested by Carbon-14 is not representative of the whole. Scientists only took it, it was a mistake, they did not test the difference between the French weaving and the original cloth. It was tested with different tests and found out that the Shroud of Turin dates back to the 1st century and to Palestine. I have with me the entire Report of Dr.O.Linoli in Italian: 'Ricerche istologiche, immunologiche e biochemiche sulla Carne e sul Sangue del Miracolo Eucaristico di Lanciano (VIII secolo)", Edizioni S.M.EI., :Lanciano, II Edizione, printed from U.O. di Anatomia e Istologia e di Citogenetica, Presidio Ospedaliero della U.S.L., N.23--Arezzo. It is concluded that it is going back to the 1st century and to Palestine (see pp.9, 11, 15). About human origin of the flesh and blood, it says: "La natura umana e dell'antica Carne di Lanciano...dimostrata immunologicamente a mezzo di reazione di precipitazione zonale di Uhlenhuth". In the blood there is sensible reduction of sodium, potassium, chlorates, phosphorus and magnesium, whereas calcium is increased (p.15). Church authorities keep quiet in spite of the scientific evidence. It is not only "representation" of Christ's burial cloth, but the same shroud that wrapped the body of Jesus in the tomb of Joseph of Arimatheia.
