Long Live KONKANI as the official Language of Goa. Please stop imposing foreign languages on us Goans. RESPONSE: My dear Manuel, Is it possible that you did not read my post with care? I submit that if you had done so, you may not have written the above. I also submit that the Konkani spoken by the vast majority of those demanding primary education in English, is NOT the Konkani being imposed on Goans. It is akin to the Vindaloo served to patrons of restaurants in the UK, or the so called Goa Fish Curry served in many restaurants in the US i.e. Contrived. In summary: Just because "they" take a bad sounding, nasal dialect of Marathi aka Ghati-Marathi (in some parts of Maharashtra) and serve it up as Konkani, does not make it Konkani. That is, if the folks pay attention, the reason why many Goans (esp in Goa) use English at social functions including weddings. jc ps: jc does not have to either leave Goa or migrate to Maharashtra!
