Why do Goans who have been speaking Konkani for Centuries now have to speak Marati ? It would be the same like asking Spaniards, Portuguese, and French etc to revert to the original Latin Language from which these languages were derived wouldn't it? We have for centuries Spoken Konkani so let us continue speaking Konkani which is our language of Goa and stop trying to impose a foreign element into Goa. It should be left up to the individuals to chose the script they would like to communicate in. I also resent the attitude that Konkani is a nasal version of Marati. This is the language spoken by 99.9% of Goans and is therefore the true language of Goa. if jc wants enjoys Marati so much, then he has my vote to leave Goa and migrate to Maharastra where he will have the permanent privilege of listening to Marari forever.
