It was interesting to see a very large gathering of People, for the recently held meeting at Azad Maidan on the Medium of Instruction. Whilst I respect that the Parents have their right to state their views, on what they think is right for their children, I want to ask these parents, if the Medium of Instruction is the only thing they hold important for their children. Are they not concerned about the rapid rate of destruction of Goa, its land, culture, identity and environment; which will also significantly affect their children? How many of these parents were present at the recently held GRA meeting at the same venue, or for that matter the last GBA meeting? For instance, I agree that Medium of Instruction is an important issue but what good will the medium of instruction be, if their children have to live in polluted/destroyed environment. It appears that we Goans are generally a purely selfish and narrow minded lot of people, who are unable to see the bigger picture and the wider threat to Goa and Goans; and this attitude if not changed will be the main reason for our ultimate doom!!
