Details of State Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak’s assets and liabilities are not available with the Goa Government. This has been informed by the Law Department under the Right to Information Act. Details of Advocate General Subodh Kantak’s assets and liabilities were sought as the Goa Government over the last five years has paid by way of fees to Mr. Subodh Kantak over rupees five crores.
Meanwhile, the Under Secretary (Personnel) has informed that the Chief Secretary and other Secretaries to the Goa Government have to furnish their annual property returns. However the information furnished by the officers in original has been forwarded to the Cadre Controlling authority in Delhi and the Goa Government has not care to keep a copy for the records. The Under Secretary (Personnel) has also informed that all heads of Goa government departments submit their annual property returns every year. I have now sought under the Right to Information Act from the Union Home Ministry details of annual property returns of all IAS and IPS officers who have served in the state of Goa during the last five years. Have also sought from the Goa Government property returns of all heads of government departments over the last five years. The issue of assets of government officers has to be pursued as many officers have reportedly acquired huge assets disappropionate to their known sources of income and some of the assets have been transferred in the names of their family and friends.
