Dear Soter,

Indeed, we are competing with one another [for the better, of course].

I was just about to put my deep thoughts together on this very topic w.r.t. my good friend Arvind Bhatikar.
But, you have beaten me to it and just as well.

It is said that the 'snake' does leave its skin behind even as it moves on and grows.
And most often these 'left behind skins' do come to haunt.
It would be perfectly alright if the 'snake' could eat its own shedded skins. In that case there would be no trace left behind. But that would be unfortunate. In it??

Today, I re-visit the many 'brainstorming' sessions in 2000 that took place at 'CARITAS' Panjim which I chaired and which led to the formation of GSRP, starting with the first one at the International Center at Dona Paula chaired by Gen.(retd) Sunit Rodrigues. These initial brainstorming sessions (4 or 5 out of 11) had a distinct pleasure of having Arvind Bhatikar being present and brainstorming for the good of GOA.

He stopped attending after making his point that all deliberations must take place in KONKANI, [WHY IN ENGLISH??] His point was well taken but most others argued that though deliberating in KONKANI is desirable, expressing oneself fully and completely in Konkani on the intricate subject like designing a new political system for Goa may not be possible where ENGLISH is bound to prevail.

Today, I am grateful to Arvind Bhatikar for not demanding that the deliberations be in MARATHI, the language which unites him with Shashikala Kakodkar and Manohar Parrikar.

Cheers

Bhatikar spits communal politics?
"This government is being ruled by Salcete. What decisions they want to take for Salcete they take for the whole state. Goa is not just the talukas of Salcete, Mormugao, Ilhas and Bardez. They are treating Goa as if it is only the old conquests." Arvind Bhatikar told the motley gathering.
