Regal Electrotech beat Hotel Manoshanti's Panjim TT Club to be crowned
Champions of the prestigious Angley's Cup Table Tennis Team
Championship event, organised by Panjim Gymkhana. In the finals played
at the Gymkhana Hall premises at Campal, the Electrotech team
brandished a perfect score card to win the finals 3-0. For the
Manoshanti team, the loss through injury of their star player Noel
Noronha, who has been one of Goa's foremost Champions for the last two
decades, was a huge setback, but the team put up a spirited fight
against their opponents who had three top players from Maharashtra.

Noel Pinto set the stage on fire with an amazing display of control
and aggression to register a 11-8, 11-7, 11-7 win over Amit Naik.
Goa's seasoned player Ajit Ghantker engaged Eric Fernandes in long
rallies before going down to a 9-11, 10-12, 8-11 loss to the
Maharashtra No 2 seed. In the longest match of the day, Dhiraj Rai had
to fight a hard battle to overcome Manoshanti's Arun Naik in five
long-fought games before winning the epic 8-11, 9-11, 11-9, 118, 11-8.
Ashley Dias and Daniel Pinto were the other members of the winning
team. Shivadutt Kenkre was the reserve player for the runners-up.

Panaji city Mayor Yatin Parekh was the Chief Guest and distributed the
prizes in the presence of Mr. Prashant Kakode(Secretary, Panjim
Gymkhana), Narahar Thakur((Jt. Secretary, Panjim Gymkhana), Gaursih
Dhond of Manoshanti Hotels, Kishore and Atish Angley from Angley's
