Regal Electrotech beat Hotel Manoshanti's Panjim TT Club to be crowned Champions of the prestigious Angley's Cup Table Tennis Team Championship event, organised by Panjim Gymkhana. In the finals played at the Gymkhana Hall premises at Campal, the Electrotech team brandished a perfect score card to win the finals 3-0. For the Manoshanti team, the loss through injury of their star player Noel Noronha, who has been one of Goa's foremost Champions for the last two decades, was a huge setback, but the team put up a spirited fight against their opponents who had three top players from Maharashtra.
Noel Pinto set the stage on fire with an amazing display of control and aggression to register a 11-8, 11-7, 11-7 win over Amit Naik. Goa's seasoned player Ajit Ghantker engaged Eric Fernandes in long rallies before going down to a 9-11, 10-12, 8-11 loss to the Maharashtra No 2 seed. In the longest match of the day, Dhiraj Rai had to fight a hard battle to overcome Manoshanti's Arun Naik in five long-fought games before winning the epic 8-11, 9-11, 11-9, 118, 11-8. Ashley Dias and Daniel Pinto were the other members of the winning team. Shivadutt Kenkre was the reserve player for the runners-up. Panaji city Mayor Yatin Parekh was the Chief Guest and distributed the prizes in the presence of Mr. Prashant Kakode(Secretary, Panjim Gymkhana), Narahar Thakur((Jt. Secretary, Panjim Gymkhana), Gaursih Dhond of Manoshanti Hotels, Kishore and Atish Angley from Angley's Sports and Subhash Kolwalkar(TT Coach).
