On the contrary, those who have joined the agitation are spending their own money and giving a part of their time to raise their voices against the scourge of corruption. Motor cycle Pilots are citizens of India and corruption is
a disease which affects their lives too. So they are there. So are the Engineers, doctors, lawyers, architects, artists, poets, journalists and others from so many different spheres of life. Students from across the length and breath of our Nation have also joined the protest in large numbers. In Panjim city itself, hundreds of school and college children have written essays, poems and painted beautiful theme drawings on the evils of 'Corruption'. Shortly, I shall be uploading some of these best submissions to the web. There is no force or compulsion on anyone. No incentives are given to anyone. India is a democratic Country where everyone is free to peacefully protest. If at all anyone has a problem with that, it should be the Individuals themselves or their parents/ guardians(for minor children) but they have done nothing of that sort. So I see no logical reason why you should have an issue with the participation of students at the rallies.>>> COMMENT : How much does a motorcyle pilot earn a day? And what is the price of petrol? If the pilot is a married person, then he has a family to feed also. Besides if he’s going to the rally, he’s forfeiting the day’s earnings too, which means he is going to put petrol from his savings? Do you sincerely believe any pilot will do that? We have seen motorcycle rallies in the past by politicians, wherein the tank was filled, a five hundred note in the pocket and then the stomach too was filled. Secondly, if Sandeep knew child psychology or even was an educationist who are briefed on child psychology, he would understand that the duty of students is to learn and study, and not partake in agitations; be they political or apolitical. Their parents must be not even aware that their ward was part of the rally. Have the Organisers of the rally ever taken permission of the parents of children? Or for that matter from the Institution (though their consent is not officially valid)? Is it not Child Abuse to deviate a child from its routine for which the parents and the Institution concerned have consented? Does it not infringe on Child Laws? Should an accident happen during the rally, who is responsible for any injury or fatality? The minor child? Please answer! Such irresponsibility is due corrupt ways of life that have infested Goa in recent years. No one before, including schools, colleges or any other institution would ever take a child or children anywhere outside their routine without the consent of parents. And an educationist would never advise even adult students to partake in morchas and rallies. Dr. Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão.
