VANXIM DIVAR DUBAI CHAMPS Russell Rodrigues Jr. in the 5th minute and Russell Rodrigues Sr. in the 12th minute scored one goal each in the second half as Vanxim Divar Dubai took the significant win towards the Copa Goa 2011 in the Goan inter village football tournament organized by United Goans Dubai and played at Dulsco Sports club Dubai. Both Divar and CAC Cansaulim had skill full players who played for Goa and India. With Orlando Vegas dominating the game in the midfield, but the forwards could not get any ball in the nets for Cansaulim because the strong defiance of Vanxim Divar, Lynton and Bambola kept the Cansaulim lads at bay. In the second half coach Savio Azavedo had changed the format of the match, the Cansaulim boys had to wonder where to go about, while Johnny & Avinash moved both the flanks to pass the ball to Russell Rodrigues Sr. and Russell do no mistake to convert the ball into the nets and put Vanxim Divar into the lead in the 5th minute, in another move Lynton passed the ball to Russell Jr., dribbling the Cansaulim lads Russell takes the long 10 yard shot to put Vanxim Divar on the driver’s sit in the 12th minute of the second half. In the semifinals Vanxim Divar beat Siolim United and CAC Cansaulim beat Fr. Agnel Pilar EKFC to fight for the champion’s trophy Copa Goa 2011. The first match played for the 3rd and 4th Place between Siolim United & Fr. Agnel Pilar EKFC, Siolim united had better players and gave good delivery while Fr. Agnel Pilar had good chances but failed to score. Siolim United won the match by 1-0 to bag the 3rd place. In an eventful evening the second match played between Salcette Goans taking on Bardez Goans, kept the Goan crowed entertained. Both teams with players of 80’s & 90’s with Franky Barrato captained the Salcette Goans, while Ex. Dempo’s William Machado had the captain cap to lead the Bardez side. Salcette lads played well but Bardez Bulls took the lead in the first half from the right midfield Peter Simoes scored for Bardez, while in the second half Franky pulled a 30yard shot to equalize. In the tie breaker Peter, Joeboy & William scored for Bardez while Franky & Victor scored while Benny missed for Salcette Goans, Bardez won the match by 4 – 3. Mickey Pacheco was the chief guest, Gave a speech to the crowed where the Goans where happy to receive his massage of getting better future for the children of Goa and to fight for the right. People from all over Emirates came to watch the Goan inter village football grand finals an event full evening and Goan getting together at on place due to Eid holidays in Dubai. Fr. Desmond of St. Anthony’s high school Monte de Guirim - Goa was the guest of honor. Mr. Nelson Silveria Chairman of United Goans Dubai and the main sponsor of the tournament gave few words on the event. Fr. Desmond and Mr. Nelson gave away the prizes for the Best Player of the tournament went to Johnny of Vanxim Divar, Best Goalkeeper was grabbed by Mario of Vanxim Divar, Best Midfielder of the tournament was awarded to Orlando Vegas of CAC Cansaulim, The highest goal scorer was Kinsley of CAC Cansaulim, Fair play team was given to the young players team Sirlim Sports Club and the Best goal scorer was awarded to Terence of St. Anthony’s Siolim. Mr. Mickey Pacheco gave way the Champions trophy along with the cash prize to the team VANXIM DIVAR DUBAI.
