There are many intimate photos of George, his ancestral home (the home of
Professor Armando Menezes) and Divar...so do allow a second or two to down load.

"As I approach the island of Divar in my rust-eaten ferry, a chorus of
epiphanies descend on me, the most persistent of which is that life indeed is
fortuitous. How else can one explain life conniving –rather seamlessly – to
bring acclaimed writer, George Menezes into my life. I am his guest for the day
and we are heading to explore the island of Divar followed by lunch at his
ancestral house, home to his father, the eminent Professor Armando Menezes.

The sky is overcast with grey clouds threatening to burst forth and the ferry
is heavy with shuffling, impatient travellers. As it splutters towards the
jetty, George remembers a time when the same journey was made by small canoes
undulating over the ripples in this swathe of water, the Mandovi River which
cuts across the mainland and the island. Tight-muscled oarsmen wouldn’t
hesitate to scoop women into the arms and land them safely onto the bank, if
the need arose..."

Enjoy,
Selma
