ANNA HAZARE THREATENS He broke his fast after resolution was passed in the Parliament and copy was provided to him The assurance in writing wa given about the unanimous resolution that a strong LokPal bill wil be brought to the Parliament. In the mean time the select committee is engaged in the exercise. The winter session of the Parliament is in the offing All concerned need space to formulate the bill that will satisfy all and as averred by Dr M Singhvi Now and with trust deficit, Anna is sending strong signals of threat to bring forth the much anticipated bill. He argues that 8 times bill made appearance in the Parliament and for the last 42 years plus, it has been kept into hibernation for one reason or the other His fear and concerns are therefore are genuine. But he must realise that he has to wait for the winter session and watch the scene as it unfolds then, and accordingly decide on the next course of actions. It is true that other parties or the constituents of UPA have not taken a public stand for or against the proposed bill It is only the Congress in the UPA, who have vehemently opposed, supported by the Congress legal eagles. Naturally all the ire is rightly directed against the Congress in particular, Anna now threatens to give a call to people not to vote for the congress, on the mere apprehensions that Congress may not be sincere in its promises to deliver as promised The elections in different states scheduled later, may not have direct bearing at the centre or influence either way the outcome of lok pal bill at all. It is felt that Anna`s threat and intended call not to vote for Congress is premature and still born He appears to dilute his goal against the monster of corruption in entering the political arena There is nothing wrong if that be his case to obtain justice to his cause,but the call should be to all the parties and candidates, sitting on the fence and not openly supporting the Jan Lok Pal bill. Presently the Congress in the UPA is mired with cases of corruption and is losing the faith of the people It is opportunistic under the circumstances to take advantage of Congress in deep turmoil to make such a threat , directly and selectively against one party alone The congress is living in ivory towers of glass that it is not vulnerable to wishes of the people and elections will not have Anna factor in the run up and successful victory Enough expectations of the people have been raised through the public protest of the unprecedented scale and the Congress for its survival cannot possibly ignore and take a suicidal step In all fairness to all concerned, it is wise to exercise patience and wait for the winter session and the finalisation by the select committee If the apprehensions of delays surface and intentions of the Parliament are misplaced, then at that time the call will be effective and people will definitely come out to support Anna should not fritter away the goodwill and faith reposed in him massively first time ever.
