Some observations: My happy birthday

Greetings, there may be many occasions in one’s life..
Be it Christmas, New year, Anniversaries, Feasts, Ganesh Chaturti, Diwali, Id,
Exams, jobs, promotions etc etc
As for me, I really don’t care if you don’t wish me on any of the above
occasions but I think I go very sentimental
if you don’t wish me on my birthday, particularly if you are a very good or a
close friend (including net friends).
Gone are the days where I used to receive a record number of Birthday cards by
posts.
Usually started, a week before and ended a week later (foreign cards used to
take 12- 28 days to deliver,
now average time is 6 days e.g. Europe).
Now that we are in the electronic world, what we get is phone calls, SMSs,
emails including electronic cards, Facebook messages/comments etc
I really don’t care how you wish me, what is more important to me is that you
remembering me on my big day i.e. happy birthday.
So, how many cards I received this year i.e. for 10.10.2011?
Just one card, rcvd 5 days in advance. (3 electronic cards, not yet opened but
the senders ID known)
How many phone calls – Lost count (but not more than 40 including miss calls, I
prefer SMSs as some people
go on and on forgetting how busy the birthday boy can be on the day).
SMSs - about 2 doz
Emails – 5
Skype video phone - 2 (abroad)
Goanet – None (except 3 a joint one, almost 24hrs later but counted or treated
valid though)
Other yahoo groups – None
How about Facebook?
Well, a record number of 151 wished me via pvt. Messages on FB
And another 51 wished me in public under commenting the comments (as I think my
FB wall does not allow
posting messages by others). So, 202 out of 777 fans on FB, not bad. I did
acknowledge them all individually.
There was one case, where in someone wished me and I acknowledged saying ‘Thank
you Mr..’
Whereas, I should have said ‘Thank you and I wish you the same’ and I remember
wishing the same person
same day last year.
See, mistakes do happen (can’t really blame FB for not reminding)
So, others, may be including you, why wait until 2012?
Who has seen tomorrow ham?
