Shocked by child's suicide father dies of heart attack

PANAJI: Three hours after his 14-year-old daughter commited suicide, the father
died of a heart-attack on Sunday.
The minor, an only child, was born after twelve years of marriage to the St
Estevam-based couple. The girl, who was studying in Class IX in a school close
to her residence, allegedly got into an argument with her boyfriend prior to
her death.
The girl is believed to have been very upset after the spat. But the teenager's
family did not have any idea of her state of mind until her suicide. She was
known to be quiet and soft-spoken by nature.
"The minor hung herself using a nylon rope at around 6.30pm on Sunday in her
kitchen when no one was around," a police source said.
The body was discovered half-an-hour later by her parents, who were left
shocked. The child's father already suffered from cardiac problems. The shock
of his only child's death led to a cardiac arrest which caused the middle-aged
man's death at 9pm three hours after the teenager's suicide .
Doctors at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) conducted the inquest
panchanama and the girl's body has been preserved in the GMC morgue for a
postmortem.
Police has registered the case under Section 174 CrPC (unnatural death).
