Lawrence and Mayo, one of the biggest and probably the oldest Christian
enterprise-(135 year old with 78 centres in 30 cities )in the country are
investing Rs 25 crores in setting up premier colleges of optometry , IGNOU
certified courses in tie-up with leading eye hospitals as an effort to tackle
skilled workers shortage. The Company is also setting up a school of optometry
in their 63acre complex at Assonara , Goa as part of a full fledged vocational
campus with high end skilled courses, including venturing into training for all
competitive examinations including civil services. The complex would be a big
boon for the youth in Goa , especially in tackling the present rising
unemployment in the State. It is proposed to be set up on the PPP model Of
