It appears that the writer Devika Sequeira hasn't fully appreciated the point
herself about the "buzz" in the secretariat.
Was Chief Minister Digambar Kamat of Goa blackmailed into parting with
a large sum of taxpayer money for a private party by reps from Tehelka?
There are two crimes here - one is the act of blackmailing a public official,
and the other by Digambar Kamat, who allegedly succumbed to it. What
is the incriminating material about Digu that Tehelka is hiding and wielding
as the blackmail stick?
This is, alas, par for the course. Any third-rate outsider can walk into Goa
and walk all over Goans. It is just that Digambar Kamat has taken spinelessness
to a whole new level.
This calls for an investigation, and Goans should come out in full force
and demand answers. But who am I kidding?
