SEZ denotification held up because of Court directive to maintain status-quo


Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, informed Mr Shantaram Naik M.P. in the Rajya Sabha that de-notification of the three SEZ in Goa has been held up as “the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India vide its order dated 10.01.2011 in SLP (C) No.36458/2010 etc. (From the judgment and order dated 26.11.2011 in WP No.316/2008 of the High Court of Judicature of Bombay and Panaji) has directed all the parties to maintain status-quo as on 10.01.2011.

Therefore, the minister said that as per the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India all the parties are to maintain status-quo as on 10.01.2011.

Minister’s reply was in connection with Mr Naik’s question wherein he sought to know about the demand of the Goa government to de-notify the three SEZs.


GOA GETS 12094 LAKHS UNDER JNNURM FOR SEVEN YEARS PERIOD

Union Minister of State for Urban Development Shri Saugata Roy informed Mr Shantaram Naik in a written reply that the seven years allocation for the State of Goa under Urban Infrastructure and Governance (UIG) of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) is Rs.12094.00 Lakhs.

He further said that The Mission city of Panaji has been approved one project with approved cost of Rs.362.25 Lakhs with Additional Central Assistance (ACA) commitment of Rs.289.80 Lakhs. So far Rs.72.45 Lakhs has been released as ACA for utilization for the project.

In addition Rs.12.97 lakhs has been released as reimbursement for the cost of preparation of City Development Plan (CDP) for the State of Goa under UIG Sub Mission of JnNURm, minister said.

Under Urban Infrastucture Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) of JnNURm, the seven years allocation for the State of Goa is Rs. 2211.00 Lakhs which has been committed for 3 Road projects approved for the towns of Bicholim, Sanguelim and Sanguem at an approved cost of Rs.2875.00 Lakhs and an amount of Rs.1105.50 Lakhs has been released to the State as ACA for the projects, Minister said.

However, he said that, one Road Project at Cuncolim has been approved by the State level Sanctioning Committee and recommended for release of funds which cannot be considered as the State has exhausted its allocation.
