SHANTARAM NAIK HOISTED NATIONAL FLAG AT GOA SADAN, NEW DELHI
America made a last minute effort to prevent Indian Military from
marching into Goa, however, Pt. Jawarlal Nehru and the then Defence
Minister Shri Krishna Menon did not heed to the request of the American
envoy who was trying to convince Nehru that America will try to persuade
Portugal to resolve the issue amicably, said Mr. Shantaram Naik, MP.
Mr. Naik who was speaking at Goa Sadan, New Delhi on Monday after
hoisting National Flag there, said that Goa has made tremendous progress
since liberation, and that, Goa is marching ahead towards further
development.
Mr. Sripad Naik MP said that it is on account of the sacrifices of the
freedom fighters that we are able to enjoy freedom as free citizens.
Mrs. Vatsala, Deputy Resident Commissioner of Goa Sadan proposed a vote
of thanks.
Officers and employees of Goa Sadan were present on the occasion.
