Hello William,  much relieved to note you are active and well !   I am in an
attempt to discover if the
text I discovered reflects officially (diocesan!) sanctioned language
'rehabilitation' ; the use of this euphemism
is an effort not to cause offense or step on toes.  I am not adequately
educated in a direction that would permit
me to offer a credible solution to the dilemma posed by the monograph.  I am,
however, clued in to your frustration.
Thank you for the response, the sole one, to date.  The paucity troubles me,
but Teo has related to the phenomenon, in the past.
I stand by the veracity of my post, and will be thrilled if you ask me to
mail you the publication.  It was distributed last week at the Christmas Social
organized by the NY/NJ Mangalore Catholic community.  We were also treated to
kuswar flown in from Mangalore.
       Best wishes,   Eric.

Subject: Re: Standard Konkani Liturgy.

Eric,
Are you sure Coastal Capuchins have written in the manner in which you
have reproduced the material? If you have, then the Capuchins need to
go to Konkani school to learn Konkani speech and its written standard
form.
What is a standard? Language with a religious/political sword in hand.
Imposition with threats of annihilation of all other speech forms and
written forms. There is what is called orthography, the soroll borop,
accetable writing by a community - not their exclusive speech form.
One speaks one's speech form and in writing is open enough to
understand and articulate others' speech forms. In this manner
gradually develop a commonly accepted form of writing. It evolves, it
is not imposed.
Please confirm the text is as Capuchins composed it. After reading
your confirmation I will send you an alternative form which you could
read and comment on.
William
