Will quit Congress if I don't get St Cruz ticket: Babush

PANAJI: Education minister Atanasio 'Babush' Monseratte said that he
will quit the Congress party if he is denied a Congress ticket to
contest from St Cruz constituency.
During the last election, Monserrate had rejected the Congress ticket
after the Congress party denied a ticket to his wife.
Both Monserrate and his wife, Jennifer, have staked a claim for the
Congress ticket in both Taleigao and St Cruz constituencies. Both have
submitted application forms for Congress tickets.
"If Congress decides to adopt a policy of one ticket per family then my
wife will contest the election on a Congress ticket from Taleigao," said
Monserrate.
He also said that if Congress gives him a ticket to contest from St
Cruz, then he would contest the polls. "But if Congress denies me a
ticket, then I will still be in the fray, but will contest on my parent
party's ticket (UGDP)," he said.
Monserrate, in 2002, first contested the assembly election on a UGDP
ticket from Taleigao, before he joined the BJP, Congress, UGDP and now
again, the Congress.
