As far as I, as a citizen of Goa, am concerned, I predict a total MESS (in
Capital letters) to be unfolded in the coming elections 2012
There are chances that a few (meaning not more than 1 or 2) believed to be
clean and good persons will be elected as independents with frustrated
people, read voters, getting behind them and actively NET-WORKING for their
VICTORY. However, we have a record, as Soter has explained, that roaring
LIONS before election have become ear-licking poodles, when elected,
therefore, each one has a price which may be not rock bottom on the
ascending ladder. Why? Because, in the absence of any written down system of
operation or conduct, one is free to go with the wind once elected. And this
is easy if one is surrounded by self-seeking coterie of supporters, unless
there is the real possibility of the full magazine of the deterrent AK-47
opening fire at the back for ratting on given promises.
BUT, however much bad this option may sound to be, like Soter says, this is
the only option that could be a FOOD FOR THOUGHT. The main purpose of this
exercise would be to make it very difficult for the NATIONAL PARTIES to have
the GOAN CAKE presented to them on the silver platter. MESS or NO MESS, this
option of supporting INDEPENDENTS [with or without a written system of
operation or conduct] should be actively pursued.

Politics has been reduced to the art of 'the pot calling the kettle
black'. Unless Goans become wise enough and stop falling for all these
emotional slogans and tags of 'United Goans' , 'Save Goa' , 'Concerned
Villagers', 'christian-muslim candidates' , 'Anti-Corruption' and 'Third
Fronts', the poll results are a foregone conclusion. Verdict 2012 will be
as worse as RP2021. Electoral strategies are all about white rascals
making victory easy for the black rascals while Goans are made to
foolishly beat their breasts and display their fists. The innocent crooks
will also get richer while the Goan aam admi will only land up being more
poorer by 2017.
How about the idea of Goans discarding all the main national political
parties and throwing up at least 20, if not 40 independents, to the
Assembly? Goans have to gamble with their political future which would
mean taking risks. Goan mindset has been far too predictable for the
current set of crooked politicians across the poltical spectrum. Then
watch the fun. Wishing Goans all the best in the the New year 2012!
