Strange noises they are, knowing the political leanings of some of the players
for and against some issues. Now we hear some politicians blaming Micky for
threatening the Third Front possibility with his Vikas Party. Looking back
carefully, the third front has always been crucial in making or breaking
governments. It has resulted in the power of a few politicans to blackmail and
extort with their trump card of 2 or 3 MLAs, but ultimately Goa gets handed
over to the national parties at a huge price tag. Micky may be as dirty as the
rest of the Goan political class but his bid to become the ace broker to
determine who will sit on the throne is threatening the monopoly of the veteran
brokers in the game. Could this be the reason behind the noises one reads in
the media about GVP and how it is playing the spoiler?
For too long Goans have been duped into supporting a regional party by waving
symbols of an olive branch or mango leaves and the rest. Ultimately, the 2 or
3 politicians elected have landed up strengthening the hold of national parties
to destroy Goa and eliminate Goans. Goa has seen roaring activist politicians
become mice for 5 years after being elected to power. Goans have seen corrupt
officers as portrayed by the opposition being installed at key positions, no
sooner the very opposition group sits in the ruling benches. Compulsions of
politics isn't it? If you want development in your constituency sit like a
mouse and get your work done. Talk too much and you will be slapped with a case
of corruption, abetment to suicide, .............or 'no development' in your
constituency. Your voters will be instigated to hound you and overnight your
trusted friends will become your enemies. Suddenly your world will be lonely
reducing you to a state of compromise for survival. The f
alsehood spread through the media will become the gospel truth for the Goan
masses. Goa has witnessed changes in Government but illegal mining, cash for
jobs and real estate has continued to flourish. It only becomes a problem once
back in opposition.
Politics has been reduced to the art of 'the pot calling the kettle black'.
Unless Goans become wise enough and stop falling for all these emotional
slogans and tags of 'United Goans' , 'Save Goa' , 'Concerned Villagers',
'christian-muslim candidates' , 'Anti-Corruption' and 'Third Fronts', the poll
results are a foregone conclusion. Verdict 2012 will be as worse as RP2021.
Electoral strategies are all about white rascals making victory easy for the
black rascals while Goans are made to foolishly beat their breasts and display
their fists. The innocent crooks will also get richer while the Goan aam admi
will only land up being more poorer by 2017.
How about the idea of Goans discarding all the main national political parties
and throwing up at least 20, if not 40 independents, to the Assembly? Goans
have to gamble with their political future which would mean taking risks. Goan
mindset has been far too predictable for the current set of crooked politicians
across the poltical spectrum. Then watch the fun. Wishing Goans all the best in
the the New year 2012!
