GOA GOVT.FLAYED IN LONDON FOR SIDELINING DR.SEQUEIRA FOR 45 YEARS.
The International Voice For Romi Konknni-UK has commemorated the 45th
year of the historic Opinion Poll on 16th of January 2012 in London. The
opinion poll was held in free India in Goa on 16th of January 1967 to
decide the fate of Goa whether to Merge Goa into Maharastra or should it
remain as a separate Union Territory with its own Identity.
In the beginning the vice president of the Konkani Association (IVFRK)
Mr.Domnic Carvalho welcomed the gathering and complimented all Goans for
remembering such an occasion even after 45 years. A portrait of Dr.Jack
de Sequeira was garlanded by the organizers and other Goans attending
the function.
President of the International Voice For Romi Konknni-UK Mr. Floriano
Fernandes is the main speaker. He highlighted the importance of Goycho
Osmita Dis /Goan Identity Day especially this year as the Legislative
election is due in March where the issue of Goan Identity is hotly
debated amongst the Goan voters in Goa. He called upon the Goans to vote
honestly and elect the person having honesty and who cares for Mother
Goa. He blasted Goan political Leaders who are out to finish Goa by
divide and rule policy thereby bringing communalism in every spheres of
life. They even failed to recognize the work done by the leader like
Dr.Jack de Sequeira who had fought to safe guard our Identity by winning
the unique and historic Opinion Poll-1967. The Congress and BJP govt.
have failed miserably to install a life size Statue of Dr.Sequeira who
had spearheaded the Opinion Poll but they went on to glorifying a Chief
Minister who wanted to Merge Goa into Maharastra namely Dayanand
Bandodkar of MGP.
On the 45th anniversary he urged the new govt of Goa that will be
elected soon to give a due recognition for the leader and use the
Opinion Poll chapter in the school syllables so that the present
generation may know the real history of the Opinion Poll-1967. Dayanand
Bandodkar and her daughter Shashikala Tai the traitors of Goa should be
exposed in front of the public for their act to sell Goa for the
Maharastrian. He said the head of the Bharatiya Bhasa Sanskritik
Manch(BBSM) Mrs. Shashika Kakodkar wants to raise the issue of Marathi
through the back door in the excuse of MOI issue to fool the Goan
pubic. He said Mr.Pundolik Naik, Udhoy Bhembrre, N.Shivdass are the
Marathi sympathizers who are acting as Konkani agents in the name of
Marathi are responsible for the faulty draft of the Konkani Language Act
1987 that had divided Goans worse than the Britishers and Portuguese.
The separation of Romi and Devnagiri Konknni people are the direct
results of these betrayers and Goans will never forgive them for their
chicanery. Their 25 years of Chairmanship of the Goa Konkani Academy is
self-glorification and failed to bring two Konkani forces together. In
fact mother tongue Konkani was suffered too much in their hands. He
said by their current act they were found exposed combining with the
BBSM who are out to bring Marathi issue once again through the back door.
David Gurjao of Agasaim, Mr.Jose Gomes of Cansaulim, Rui Braganza of
Vasco, Floriano Cardozo of Sarzora, Mr. Narayan Naik of Ponda, Mr. Mario
Estrocio of Panjim took part in the discussion and supported the idea of
bringing some lessons of the Opinion Poll in the Syllables.
General Secretary of IVFRK Mr. Orlando Joao proposed that an annual
celebration of the Opinion Poll may be organized on 16th of January in
London. He later proposed a vote of thanks.
