What a display from Mathany of political opportunism and selfishness? The
common people have no religious barriers. It is politicians who install
barriers and remove them depending on their politicial convenience and
requirements. Shedding religious barriers is about unconditional respect for
the human rights of citizens from other faiths. It cannot be achieved by covert
manipulations towards one nation with one religion, one language and one
culture. English taught at primary level in Bhatikar's Model English School
cannot be considered patriotic while the same English being taught at primary
level in diocesan schools becomes anti-national. Mathany first needs to uproot
those religious barriers solidly installed within the BJP before advising the
public. Giving party tickets to christians in non-BJP dominated bastions is
about political convenience and opportunism but not necessarily respect for
other faiths.
