Tony Baba,

You are great!!! Are you interested in joining politics?? Then please go ahead.
On one hand you say that you understand that this fair is income for these
people and on the other side you say the authorities must wake up and kick them
out? Very good, people like you are all out to spoil our tradition, it would
have been better if you had suggested an alternative route to the traffic,
these people are there for a few days will sell and go elsewhere. Now by
stopping or telling them to sit which is not an advantage point for customers
is as good as stopping them.
What happens next is people like you sow the seeds of enmity and the next
generation will suffer, there people will have grudge against the people and
there will be fights, then you will call on the chief minister to get involved,
and get the fight more deeper, then you will pass away leaving the generation
divided on the fair issues and the selling of goods.

It’s a matter of few days, lets live together celebrate the fair, enjoy it and
ask blessing for all our brothers and sisters. The living example is the
bandra fair in Mumbai, I went there about 30 years ago and after that never got
a chance to go, since I settled in goa, last year when I went I was surprise to
see hardly any one in the mood of the fair, a slight noise of crackers and it
was like a bomb, there were more police then vendors, people looked at each
other like they suspect you.

We have maintain a good relationship and our fairs in goa are traditional, lets
keep it that way, I request humbly to you people with love and happiness, it’s
a fair and in few days it will be over but the seeds of bitterness will only
grow bigger.

Subject: [Goanet] Milagres Feast

The Milagres Feast in Mapusa is fast approaching. During this feast, there is
a traditional fair which is supposed to last for three days and the vendors of
goods place them for sale on the Bandodkar Road and St. Jerome Road. While St.
Jerome Road is fully blocked for vehicular traffic from Alankar Theatre to
Mapusa Tar Bridge, Bandodkar Road is partially blocked.

The blocking of Bandodkar Road is a great inconvenience to people from Moira,
Bastora, Nachinola, Ucassaim, Aldona, Corjuem, Pomburpa etc as the traffic jams
that are caused create unnecessary delays to people going to the above places.
Moreover, there are often unnecessary fights as the vendors place their goods
right on the roads and sometimes these get damaged by the vehicles.

Extending the fair beyond the traditional three days also extends the misery of
the people who use the tar bridge. While we understand that many merchants and
trades people depend on the fair for their income, we suggest that the items be
displayed in the fields beyond and side roads that too on only one side of the
road.

May the concerned authorities wake up to our problems?

Tony de Sa.
