As far as the Alladin lamps are concerned, the cost factor was and is a likely point against their general use. Besides, with the advent of the Alibaba guys, where is the time for the Alladin lamps? With the advent of improved Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) which give even better light than CFLs and great strides in the technology of the harvesting and storage of solar based electricity, it looks like the days of the Petromax and its cousin the Alladin are numbered.
