Cip's remark that Indian hockey team's poor performance in the Olympics was influenced by "Relax Singh" brought to mind an old joke about Mikha Singh, the man who came fourth in the 400 m run final at the Rome Olympics in 1960. The joke goes that during a break in the Olympic running schedule, Mikha Singh was lying on a ground when one spectator asked him, 'Are you relaxing/" Mikha replied, "No, I am Mikha Singh."
I met Mikha Singh in Chandigarh, Punjab, in the late 90s at the Chandigarh Boat Club. Some of us asked him if the joke was true. Mikha laughed away and said no. Like many Sardarji jokes, this one too was made up. A Goan joke that's made is of JRD Tata. He met a Goan in Goa relaxing under a tree and drinking his usual feni. Tata asked him, "Young man why are you wasting your time instead of going to work and making money. He said look at me I am so rick and living happily." The young Goan replied, "Why should I work hard to earn money and live happily when I can live happily and enjoy my self now." Cip, this brings me to the new book published in your beloved England, Britannia Unchained, by five Tory MPs, including the Indian origin MP, Priti Patel. The book says Britons are the world's worst idlers. I hope that does not include Goans, or PPPs. Eugene
