To Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister, Goa Dear Manohar-bab,
I am posting this appeal to you on Goanet and other social media Goan groups. It has been 5 months since you took office. We who rooted for you had hoped that the construction frenzy of the past 7 years in Goa would be brought to a halt by you. However, the evidence thus far is that nothing has changed in this area. Mega construction projects continue to spring from the ground, virtually all of them illegal, in violation of CRZ and other regulations. There is one taking shape right now on the Reis Magos hill, visible across the river from Panjim. Another monstrous project is underway in Dona Paula that will add hundreds, if not thousands, of flats to the existing supply, placing severe stress on our traffic, water, and other resources. ALMOST ALL OF THESE PROJECTS CATER TO OUTSIDERS. And they are built by flouting norms. You have said that there will be zero tolerance to corruption in your administration. If you truly mean that, please start by reviewing the projects I just mentioned above. In addition, I would like you to take a look at the two photos below. The files pertaining to this project went 'missing' under the Digambar Kamat govt. These concrete atrocities are a slap on the face of every Goan. A young Goan coming out of college today can no longer afford a place of his own in his homeland but outsiders with bags of ill gotten cash can come park themselves in these illegal projects all over Goa. If you really are against corruption, please tear down these illegalities. You could start right away by writing to the corporate Hyatt headquarters asking them to withdraw its affiliation to this hotel. And you could ask your staff to locate the 'missing' file pertaining to Aldeia de Goa. Mr. Chief Minister, tear down these illegalities. Enough of the 'regularization' corruption.
