Antara Dev Sen to host workshop, panel discussion on Indian Media at  ICG on 
26th Sept .


Award-winning independent journalist and editor Antara Dev Sen will  host a 
workshop, and panel discussion at International Centre Goa, in 
another special preview of the 2012 Goa Arts & Literary Festival.

Dev Sen is founder editor of The Little Magazine, the independent  journal of 
ideas and letters published from Delhi. Also a columnist, literary critic and 
translator, she is a commentator on the media, society, politics, culture and 
development. She is, or has earlier been, a columnist for The Asian Age, The 
Deccan Chronicle, The Week, The Indian Express, The Hindustan Times, Daily News 
and Analysis (DNA), Sify.com, Free Press Journal, The Bengal Post and Bangla 
Live, among other publications. Sen has worked as Senior Editor of The 
Hindustan Times and of The  Indian Express in Delhi. She started her 
journalistic career with  Ananda Bazaar's Sunday magazine in Calcutta. Sen was 
a Reuter Fellow at
Oxford University. Her undergraduate and graduate studies were at Jadavpur 
University,  Calcutta, and Smith College, USA. She is involved with or is 
advisor to various media, literary, educational and voluntary organisations in  
India and overseas.


The first event will be held between 10.30am and 12.30pm where Ms. Sen  will 
talk on "Little Magazines & Alternate Voices" followed by an  interactive 
Workshop with Antara Dev Sen (Little Magazine), Madhavi  Sardessai (Zaag) and 
Prava Rai (Parmal, TambdiMati). The event will be  hosted by Jose Lourenco (Goa 
Writers).

Later in the evening at 5:30  p.m. Antara Dev Sen will be in conversation with 
Prakash Kamat (Hindu) and Shruti Pandit (Goa Times)on "Is the Indian Media a 
functioning Fourth Estate?" The event will be hosted by Nandini Sahai of ICG.
