GOA DAY 2012 AWAITS YOU!!! The grand celebrations on GOA DAY 2012, organized by the Goan Welfare Society, in association with other Goan Clubs/Associations/Groups, await you. Make it a point to be there, on 30thNovember, 2012 at Salmiya Indian Model School (SIMS), Salmiya - Kuwait, from 12 noon onwards and enjoy the Goan hospitality at its best. The highlights of the traditional event are: Opening ceremony with lighting of the traditional lamp, Konkani Songs Singing Competition for Children in the age Groups between 5 to 8 years and 9 to 12 years; likewise, Fancy Dress Competitions for Children in the age Groups between 5 to 8 years, 9 to 12 years and 13 to 17 years, and a separate Fancy Dress Competition for Adults of all ages. In addition, we have Variety Entertainments galore, with Scintillating Music, provided by four musical groups; and Floor performances to regale the young and the old, in a unique fashion befitting the Goans. Entry Forms for all competitions are available with the organizers.
To add delight to the rich traditions and recreate Goa, away from Goa, there will be Goan Food Stalls and Games of Skill Stalls, to satisfy your gastronomical appetite and to test your skills with the rings and other things. You will most certainly never want to miss out on the fun and fun fare, all prepared for your pleasure and satisfaction. Don’t miss the Raffle Draw, which could win you a trip to and fro Kuwait/Goa(India) on Air India, and/or a chance to shop at the leading Supermarket in Kuwait, should you be the lucky one. Lots of Prizes and Surprises! For the first time Goan football will be an added attraction, there will be a 5-A-Side Football Competition for Goan Clubs & Junior Boys respectively. Teams are already set and waiting to vie for the Championship, so make sure you are there to witness the keen tussle and cheer your favorite team. If that is not enough, you will be in for yet another surprise, the Tug-of-War, with Teams comprising of 5 members on each side, exhibiting their muscle power on the ground, to emerge victorious. Handsome prizes will be granted to the winners of all competitions. After all the hustle and bustle in the afternoon session, a cultural show with the difference is planned for the evening, there will be a Konkani Cultural Stage Programme, comprising of, Mimicry, Comedy Skits, Meaningful Songs, Folklore galore. Indian Ambassador H.E Shri. Satish Metha will grace the occasion where the Scholarship Awards & various competition prizes will be distributed.
