LIBERATION – My take True, Goa was an integral part of India’s landmass pre-Portuguese occupation. So was Pakistan pre-British and Bangladesh pre-partition. But, while Goa’s liberation came via invasion, China got Macau on a platter, and East Timor went even further to call the territory their own despite Indonesia’s claim to the contrary. To my mind, Nehru’s ‘Operation Vijay’ stole the thunder from those Goans who claim they restored Goa’s umbilical cord to India. That said, I keep moving on, as the world does, too. Bennet Paes
