Again, confining myself to facts rather than opinions, I have no idea what
currently accepted universal scientific or medical definition of race Josebab
uses to declassify Indians as a race. But let me just tell you how the US
Department of Health and Human Services Data Standards for Race, Ethnicity,
Sex, Primary Language, and Disability Status classifies the different races in
the world today. This race categorization standard is the one that has to be
followed by all U.S.

physicians and medical scientists like me today.

Please see:
http://minorityhealth.hhs.gov/templates/content.aspx?ID=9228&lvl=2&lvlID=208#1

This standard was also published in the following article by the Journal of
American Medical Association: Dorsey, R., and Graham, G., New HHS Data
Standards for Race, Ethnicity, Sex, Primary Language, and Disability Status,
JAMA, December 7, 2011—Vol 306, No. 21, 2379.

Here is the relevant quote:

QUOTE
RACE DATA STANDARD
What is your race?
(One or more categories may be selected)
____White
____Black or African American
____American Indian or Alaska Native
____Asian Indian
____Chinese
____Filipino
____Japanese
____Korean
____Vietnamese
____Other Asian
____Native Hawaiian
____Guamanian or Chamorro
____Samoan
____Other Pacific Islander

Please note the race of "Asian Indian" above.

On another front, it is not surprising that the concept of self-hate when
applied to one's race or nation as a whole, is hard to grasp, because it is
easy to recast it as hatred of others by disowning or denying any shared
identity with those others of your own kind that you are hating. You do not
hate Indians like you. You hate Maharashtrians or Biharis or ghantis. You hate
Muslims or Christians or Hindus or outcastes. Then it is not self-hate anymore.
Of course! How silly of me!

This was nicely laid bare by the writer Dilip D'Souza in Times of India in 2003
in an OpED entitled "Sons Of The Soil: Unravelling The Idea Of India". This
article has been lifted and republished by the left-wing website
Countercurrents.org. Here is the link:

The best ironic quote in it was the following:
QUOTE
In 1994, the Sena’s Bal Thackeray went to Goa and urged audiences to “keep
non-Goans out of Goa ” by implementing a permit system. The irony of this
advice coming from a non-Goan seems to have escaped both Mr Thackeray and his
listeners. Where is this logic, if it is logic, going to leave us? Will we
pursue it even if it means more lives lost? Will we hold to it until it breaks
us? What happened to those constitutional guarantees that any Indian can settle
and work anywhere in India ?

Cheers,

Santosh
