Subject: A 'Thank You' note

3 April, 2013

To,
The Editor,
Gomantak Times,
St. Inez, Panjim.

Sir,

The publishing of our write-up against MOPA Airport in today's GT's 'Letters to Editor' captioned ' COME OUT IN BIG NUMBERS AGAINST MOPA AIRPORT' is much much appreciated and we thank you profusely for the same.

In fact, we are contemplating in taking the Manohar Parrikar's Government to Court in a WRIT PETITION against MOPA Airport and to demand the for the immediate dismantling and evacuation of the Indian Navy's defence facilities at Dabolim to end it's illegal occupation of Goa's Cuvilian Airport since December, 19, 1961, denying the expansion of the Civilian facilities as required and being instrumental in promoting another airport for civilian use at MOPA so that it may keep Dabolim for itself as an all out Naval Military Enclave at Goa, in spite of the massive 'Kawar Sea-Bird Base having been set up a mere stone's throw away from Dabolim. The intensions of the Navy is clear. It wants Goa to be it's relaxation and entertaining hot spot, rather than be any worthwhile installation for the national security. This Navy is so lethargic that it even cannot do the air-reconnaisance to stop the super tankers unloading their Cold Water Wash of it's crude oil tanks that invades GOA's pristine beaches as tar balls. Beside, the Navy is impotent to ward off the other national as well as foreign fishing trawlers from fishing in Goa's territorial waters. This amply shows that the Navy's installation at Dabolim, Goa is a HOLIDAY RESORT for the burnt up Naval retirees to have fun. The fear is that any novice terrorist can blow up entire Vasco through flinging of a simple hand-granade into the oil taking installation which is open and unguarded for assault. Even if the Navy was performing at Goa, it has to go because it is illegally occupying Goa. Period. As an example: India invaded and freed East Pakistan to make it BANGLADESH. The Indian Navy didn't occupy it. Therefore it is 'Liberation'. In case of GOA, it is not the liberation that we are sold out on. It is pure and simple OCCUPATION, without sanctioning the U.N. Mandated 'PLEBISCITE' for Goans to choose what the want. BTW Opinion Poll of 1967 was not a PLEBISCITE as we are now told. OP had just two options. (1) Either Merge into Maharashtra or (2) Stay as Union Territory of India. There should have been the third option: (3) "CHOOSE IF GOANS want to remain SEPARATE as a Nation like EAST TIMOR" [ as according to the promises of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru prior to the invasion of Goa]. Therefore, the demand NOW echoing Goa for SPECIAL STATUS UNDE ART. 371 OF THE INDIAN CONSTITUTION which should have been in place in 1961 or immediately thereafter.

We are more than happy to note that your esteemed daily will be echoing our continued sentiments on this proposed action to save Goa's Dabolim Civilian Airport.

Thank you Sir. We are much much obliged.
