Bab Gabe, I feel we really missed the point. These are the rituals which will not benefit dead person nor his/her family.
Biblically, prior to our death we have to surrender to Christ in order to be saved. About the second coming, Bible says "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:" So let us concentrate on our salvation.
