-soter,
Thanks for the brief reminder on who runs for and wins elections in Goa. It
boggles (at least the western) mind when a Goan politician can lead his
supporters to attack a police station. Other Goan politicians have vote banks
of migrant labour so large that no other candidate dare complete. It is a sad
day when a Goan living in New York has to remind those in Goa what democracy is
all about.

The last Goa administration oversaw a scam that cost the Goan treasury 200
million dollars or more. 200 million! That money could have electrified Goa,
the entire state. Or it could have been used to build a state of the art
hospital. The last PM made his money, everyone is aware of it, and yet no one
is calling for his head to roll.

What bugs me the most though is when someone gets brave enough to expose the
waste or report on the corruption that is going on in Goa. Those in Goa do not
even make the effort to give this person moral support. None.

Diana,

One last thing. Tim is too much of a gentleman to say this but he lives and
runs a business in Goa. Tim and his partners have also been a great help
allowing us to use their channels to get donated stuff to Goa. For no reason at
all you jumped on him accusing him of knowing nothing about Goa. I think you
owe him an apology.

Mervyn
