Zero hour hero Mr Shantaram Naik MP in a statement issued from New Delhi has said that, 'quota of food grains of 53 lakh tons marked for the State of Goa will not be reduced.....' He further states that '...Presently, around 80 per cent of the 14.57 lakh Goan population, including the above poverty line (APL) families receive the subsidised food grains by way of ration cards through 500 fair price shops around the state. After the implementation of the legislation, only 39 per cent of Goans would be entitled to this benefit, while 61 per cent population of the state would not be able to purchase subsidised food grains.'
Does this not imply that Goa will get less food supplies once legislation is implemented?
