I think after his tenure Homi Talyarkhan was sent a governor to Sikkim. But if memory serves me right, he was a journalist and worked for the Free Press Journal where I first began as a trainee/freelancer and later a staffer.
I heard many stories about him and one included Johnny Agnelo, the famous sports writer who worked, I think, under A.F.S. (Bobby) Talyarkhan. Johny was found of the bottle and was an expert on badminton. As the story told to me by a staffer of FPJ, Johnny, already few pegs high, went to cover a badminton final where Homi Talyarkhan was chief guest. Johnny tried to draw the minister's attention but was ignored. Johnny lost his patience and supposed to have yelled, "You have now ignoring me but I suppose you remember who used to write your editorials." Johnny was one of kind and stories about him are legendary. This bit is in passing. Eugene Correia PS: For JC, please don't start spreading the canard that I am defaming a dead person. Or, in the context of the Toronto Goan convention. as its making the rounds in some obscure and inconsequential mailings lists such as A-List, OCL,. that I have a tendency to "ruin" Goan families.
