"Further down he states:
"...... how GOANS feel that they are being taken advantage of by India in
the name of GOA?S SO CALLED LIBERATION from the Portuguese. It must be
clearly understood that Goans wanted the Portuguese out of Goa but did not
want another colonizer in."

Mind the words "taken advantage of by India" and "Goa's so called
liberation" (capitalized to add emphasis), and "colonizer in." Isn't it out
of place to tell the PM and the defence minister that India's takeover is
nothing but a "so called liberation"? Calling India a "colonzier" is
insulting and hurtful.

An appeal must try to win the hearts and minds of those it's addressed to.
It shouldn't show arrogance. Did India "connived" with Portugal to sign
treaty or did the Portuguese willingly sign it? It doesn't serve the
peition's purpose in aligning such motives to the Indian government,
especially when trying to win the PM and the defence minister to one's
cause.

I wouldn't be surprised if the government doesn't entertain such a letter
cloaked in a mocking tone and showing disrespect to the country.

Eugene Correia

May I remind Eugene that the truth hurts and although there is precious little
that can be done now to reverse the course of the Liberation, one can in
retrospect argue as to whether this was a liberation or a political ploy by
Jawaharlal Nehru to boost his sagging popularity as a result of the thrashing
suffered by the Indian army at the hands of the Chinese in the North, which
incidentally was commanded by one of his close relatives who abandoned his post
and RAN AWAY FROM THE FRONT LINES RETURNING TO HIS CHACHA IN DELHI for
protection. this General should have been court martialled. (Anyway we can
forgive him as his class have no tradition of fighting.) The Liberation has not
been beneficial to Goa or Goans who being meek and mild are slowly but surely
surrendering to the much more astute and conniving Indian. As a result, one can
see the exodus of Goans and the line-up of Goans at the Portuguese Consulate to
obtain Portuguese Passports so as to enable them flee their Homeland. What an
irony that the Portuguese whom we were Liberated from are now considered the
lesser evil by a majority of Goans. Therefore we can, like Floriano, say that
the Liberation is a 'SO CALLED LIBERATION'.

Floriano's tone is apt as the only way to solicit a response from corrupt and
thick skinned Politicians is to hit them hard on the head to obtain one.
