Manuel (Eddie), I am neither confused nor do I have hatred for Portuguese. To the Portuguese time was up and that's it. I have said in my OHeraldo article the Portuguese ought to have done what the French did with Pondicherry. I have also said that it is for each own to see Liberation in one's perspective. As for your other aspects, I have said that the notion of Liberation and its achievement is different from the consequences. If only the leaders had the power of hindsight, things would be different. As for your statement regarding Nehru's "sagging popularity" because of the Sino-Indian war and that he wanted to prop it up by annexing Goa, let me remind you that Goa's takeover took place in December 1961 and the war took place in October 1962. Who is "blinded" by facts? Besides, I never said you should "adhere" to your uncle's view. But if you had discussed the issue with him perhaps it would have enlightened you. I doubt you even even know what role he played in the Liberation movement. Prof. Moraes never hated the Portuguese. He looked it from a historical perspective and so do I. I, like him, are born Indians and there's no question of "touting the horn". It's called loyalty, nothing more or nothing less. Your loyalty may lie with the Portuguese, either because of you being born a "Portuguese" or for other reasons. So be it.
