GSRP's Count-down towards 2017 Goa Legislative Assembly Elections.
The seriousness with which GSRP has made the announcement, soon after 2012
Assembly Elections, that it is coming into the 2017 election fray in a big
way with not less than 30 candidates, cannot be discounted. From day one,
after the 2012 election results were declared, GSRP has been preparing for
the big stride, for the first time, since it came into the political game of
Goa in the year 2000, thirteen long years ago.
What GSRP does not have to prepare is the 'SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE' that it
will follow on getting elected, or, the so called 'Election Manifesto'.
These two important documents have been commissioned as ONE in the year 2005
in the name of 'THE ROAD MAP FOR GOA' , a PERMANENT document, which has made
the Party to sit down and deliberate the pros and cons of providing for
Goa's good governance, for it's extended prosperity and to bring back the
lost lustre to it's good name that will resonate throughout the lenght and
breadth of India and the world across. The Party considers this document as
the 'document of a lifetime' because, not days, not months but many years
of hard work has gone into it's preparation, so that Goa does not have to
speculate what the government of this Party will do and not do, thereby
eliminating the uncertainty that lies with the formation of every new
government vis a vis the selection process of the CM and his CABINET
members, the strength of this CABINET, the distribution of portfolios, even
to the extent of fine-tuning the day that the Party's government will be
fully in charge and efficiently operating [ which, by the way, will be the
third day after the 'winning' election results have been declared].
Spared from the agony of preparing the above routine, what the Party lacks
is a substantial grass-roots presence. Therefore, the Party has been
concentrating on establishing this very important wing of political
maneuvering. For any new Political Party, this is the most gigantic and
daunting tasks of all, without which the electoral prospects are ruled out.
For this grass-roots wing to take shape, it requires a hell of a lot of
time, especially, in the absense of the Party's tag as a 'big spender'.
GSRP intends to accomplish this through it's potent slogan - PPS - which
stands for "PEOPLE FOR POLITICAL SANITY". The reasoning that this Party
goes by is that ' IF THE PEOPLE WHO WILL ULTIMATELY VOTE AND ELECT THE
GOVERNMENT THAT WILL RUN THEIR EVERYDAY LIVES AND THE LIVES OF THEIR
DEPENDENTS FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS, THEY REQUIRE TO BE POLITICALLY SANE.
GSRP is using this SLOGAN as the foundation stone on which to build it's
grass-roots activism of networking. The hurdle that will make it difficult
for the grass-roots activism of the Politically Sane people of Goa, Goans
and Goa Lovers, has been eliminated by the very fact that the Party has
shown it's seriousness in fielding not less than 30 candidates for the 2017
GLA Elections. Through this assurance, what the Party is telling the
politically sane people of Goa is that.... 'SHOULD THEY WORK FOR THE PARTY'S
VICTORY by making it their preferred choice, the Party can give the
governance to Goa, Goans and Goa lovers exactly what has been promissed in
the said ROAD MAP FOR GOA plus more, this more being the decisive steering
of the Party affairs as according to the Articles 34, 38 and 41 of the
Party's Constitution, which measures are considered to be the
'belt-tightening' measures that are required and be strictly enforced or
implemented if Goa has to come out of it's 'living beyond it's means'. It is
but natural that 'IF WE WANT CHANGE, WE NEED TO TOUCH IT to feel it. And
there is no doubt whatsoever that GSRP means CHANGE.
The question that now arises is: "WHO ARE THOSE 30 CANDIDATES OF THE PARTY
GOING TO BE"??
To answer this question, a mere look at the executive set-up of the Party
will show that most on the list, if not all, are above the retirement age.
This Party is serious about Goa's welfare. It has readied the VEHICLE [ the
Party], fit to move at any given time, itself being the DRIVER and
maintenance crew. The only thing missing is the PASSENGERS who will take
that good ride.
And who should be those PASSENGERS?
To answer this question, usually, any top of the form, innovative VEHICLE
will be looking for moneyed PASSENGERS. It is not so in this case. This
Vehicle will issue the Tickets to Goa's graduated YOUTHS, not at the reduced
rate of half the price, but free of cost, provided that they are ready to
embark at the point of emkarkation and alight at the point of
desembarkation. These graduated YOUTHS could be lawyers, teachers,
technocrats, architects, engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs whose mind-set
and clean outlook shall be respected more than their educational
qualifications, religions and castes, as this PARTY believes that (1)
religion is a private matter to be respected but must not interfere with
governance, and (2) that Goa's future lies with Goa's YOUTH. Therefore, they
will be so chosen, keeping in mind, should there be the need for the DRIVER
at any given point in time, everyone of them will fit the bill to take the
WHEEL in hand.
