Sadly, our natural affinity with the revered memory of Bapuji is largely limited today to empty rhetoric and ceremonial obeisance, mostly once a year. We – each one of us, and more so our leaders – appear to have reneged on the noble path of unfailing adhesion to truth and commitment to serve, which the Mahatma had shown us by the example of his life, lived among us not so long ago.
Have we decided to make it appear that the sacrifices of the Father of Nation were in vain? Have we decided to concoct a vicious personal or collective ideology of self-aggrandisement beneath the veneer of Gandhiji’s noble thought? So long as we do not nurture his ideals in our minds and hearts, and merely carry in our wallets the prints of his image on the soiled or looted currency, we – as persons and as a nation -- shall be perennial losers. May the strength of Gandhiji’s mystic imbue us with some sense, at least today. Aires Rodrigues T1 - B30, Ribandar Retreat Ribandar - Goa - 403006 Mobile: 9822684372
