But in times like these one must believe in one's story, irrespective of what others think about. In a chat he talks about his film that has been selected to represent India at the Oscars... Lessons learnt: Besides hard work, it's important to explore and develop your film. Be open to suggestions and inputs. However, it is important is to stick to your idea. Don't lose heart and don't go in another direction just because someone says so. Believe in your project. The controversy: I was confused with what happened. I was all along wondering what the fuss was about. On one hand you have an independent jury selecting your film and then you have certain sections talk against this. I understand that some were disappointed and the social media was quite active on this whole issue. Controversies lasts a few days, the films we make last for a lifetime. On getting support: It's lonely making films... very lonely. It's filled with a lot of uncertainty. I felt lost at times. But in times like these you have to stay with your core idea. Through all this I never thought of giving up. It's part of my personality. I can't think or imagine doing a thing like quitting. Take on Goa's film industry: I watched a Konkani film Paltadacho Munis (The man beyond the bridge). It was superb. The Good Road at IFFI: The film was part of the National Film Development Corporation's Film Bazaar. My film was part of the industry screening module. The process out here is not judgmental but rather collaborative. On lack of opportunities in Goa: I don't know. But I would want to come back to Goa one day to live here for sure. I would want to come back to my village of Moira. I do come here. I love Goa. It's a straightforward place. I remember the time I was checking out of a hotel when the sweeper shook my hand wishing me goodbye. I felt so happy. You don't get to see that often in other parts of the country. It was fantastic to know that he felt empowered enough to shake my hand. It's a more egalitarian society here and that's the strength of Goa. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/bollywood/news-interviews/Controversies-lasts-only-for-few-days-Gyan-Correa/articleshow/23896366.cms _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ _/_/ _/ _/ FN P +91-832-240-9490 M +91-982-212-2436 f...@goa-india.org _/ Goa,1556 titles: http://bit.ly/Goa1556Books2 _/ _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/
