Manohar Parrikar completes 20 months as Chief Minister of Goa. It has been 20 long months of never ending U turns, failed promises, bungling of issues and unkept deadlines. Corruption and maladministration is at its ebb. The crime rate over the roof. The state coffers are empty but to keep his Ministers and MLAs in good humor he is allowing them to go on frequent state sponsored jaunts across the globe.
He has just announced that the new Dabolim Airport terminal building would be inaugurated on December 19th but would be operational only by end of January (hopefully its January 2014). Why inaugurate a project that is incomplete? Is it only for the Chief Minister to get some undue cheap publicity? Remember the CM’s birthday gift of ESG Chairmanship to Vishnu Wagh? May be he would have it on his next birthday for sure! On the last 20 months of chaotic administration by the Chief Minister less said the better. Ask any common man on the street and he will say it all. The arrogance and “I know it all” attitude of Manohar Parrikar is there for all to see. He has mustered the art of passing the buck and shifting the blame. For all the wrong doings of this government he either blames the earlier government, the bureaucrats, the central government or the Press as we are now seeing in the Nigerian saga. Mr. Manohar Parrikar, you are the Chief Minister and the buck stops at your door. Do not look for scapegoats. You have failed to deliver and it’s partly because you have unleashed the RSS communal agenda which has no place in a Secular country like ours. Infact Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar started on a wrong foot. His swearing in ceremony on 9th March last year held at Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) grounds at Campal cost the State exchequer a whopping Rs 10, 91,782 of which Rs 66,000 was spent on 222 kgs of peddas, Rs 93,120 on water bottles while Rs 48,000 on 6000 batata vadas and another Rs 48,000 on the 6000 vegetable patties. Public funds could not have been squandered in this manner Mr. Chief Minister with dubious people in attendance as ‘Special Guests’.
